Is There a Timeout?

The default behavior is you almost always just want to go to the last final state without rendering the intermediate ones. There might, there are some exceptions perhaps and there's ways to implement that even in this model. But yeah, there will definitely be some concept of configuring the threshold for how long to wait for things to render before you give up and render a placeholder instead.
