The Monsoon Season and Snake Bites in India

In monsoon, while we see a lot more snakes out and about, it's actually the harvest season where we see the highest number of bites occurring. 97% of snake bite victims in India are farmers and most of them get bitten around harvest season because they're working with their bare hands and feet on ground. Antivenom quality is a huge, huge issue. What used to take five or six miles in the 1950s to neutralize venom now takes 25 or 30 miles. Almost 80, 85% of people who die from snake bite die outside of a healthcare infrastructure.
