The Vedas can be traced back to about 1750 BC. Buddhism often appealed to this other segment of society that wanted to have access to a religious life. Ideas of kingship coming in from Persia, the Achaemenids had annexed part of northwest India. Even Alexander made it to the edge of India in the next century. The ancient global world was more connected than we think it was.
