The Rise of the Buy and Hold Belief

In finance, it's really gotten to the point where there's only a few beliefs that people are firm in. The fact that you just buy and hold and the market goes up, it's been reinforced over time. Buy and hold is just such a firm belief in the United States because that has worked since it's been preached in a very powerful way. But if you look at other economies, you could start rattling off dozens of different stock indexes and markets that are lower than they were 15 years before.
