IBS Symptoms and Stool Testing

The common symptoms are belching, bloating, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea. Some of the other things that I see clinically with the gut brain connection sometimes there can be significant brain fog because of some of the metabolites of yeast fermentation That can affect the brain, particularly acetaldehyde. There's not a good way to tell from a stool test whether or not someone has an overgrowth of yeast or Candida. The gold standard is a duodenal aspirate which is where they can remove some fluid from the small intestine during an endoscopy and analyze it for the number of fungal organisms.
