Maeve: The Romans pay very little attention to Athens one of the reasons why is because Athens is continually backing the losing side it backs Mark Anthony and Brutus. So even back then there were Roman tourists going to Athens and looking at its glorious past. Unfortunately in 267 see the Herrulians raid Athens and the whole of the city is sacked, more than likely there was a catastrophic fire in the Parthenon.
