Is There a Difference Between Lifting Weights and Running?

The oxygen cost of a set of 10 squats with 600 pounds is about 50% higher than doing the same number of reps at 200 pounds. As long as range of motion doesn't change, weight on the bar goes up, oxygen cost goes up, takes longer to recover from. Unless you're in incredibly good shape, sprinting 600 meters is probably going to take a minute and a half or more for most lifters.
