I would definitely want to read the first three missed bow books. The way he handles his SNES magic system is pretty interesting and he's like opened up one or two other questions. I didn't feel like I needed to know the backstory of this world to get a cool story out of it so I hope I have high hopes that at least the initial of the initial missborn books that follow this don't just dive off the deep end into like let me explain everything.
