Liz Truss's authority to a large extent has seeped away with such a calamitous month that she's had since she became prime minister. Her fate is in the markets because if they do really destabilise again, Tory MPs will just say we have no choice but to act. We'll have to swallow the hard politics. People within government are still watching it very carefully. The Bank of England starts to withdraw its assistance on the guilt market. If Gilt's lose the stability that they, to some extent, gained after their intervention, again, she is in trouble.
