The Fates of Native American Chiefs

This chapter discusses the fates of several Native American individuals who played important roles in assisting Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery on their expedition, including the Mandan chief Shaheke, the Shishone chief Camilla Wade, the Klatsap chief Kobay, and the Nez Perce chiefs Twisted Hair, Halahotsud, Tedaharski, and Cutnows. It also highlights the journey of Kobay's stolen skull and its eventual return to the Klatsap people for reburial.
