Was It Better to Be a Concubine of David?

David was not happy with Joab for a whole number of reasons, most recently because he's the one who took care of Absalom, killed him. So Amasa is a replacement and goes out to some in Judah, but he was delayed. Maybe they're happier being in this living widowhood, so they don't have to worry about him anymore. Either way, David is treating them as defiled and damaged goods.
