The Assassination Trial of Charles Guto
Susan Wells thinks that Charles Guto's trial in 1881 may have felt threatening to O'Nida. The community had changed and didn't want people looking into its past. James Vale was called to court to testify about his character but the night before he was supposed to go, he was arrested. And I do believe he was framed by members of the O'NIDA community who did not want him to reveal certain things in the federal courtroom.
