The Story of the Portuguese on Taiwan
The Portuguese were the first Europeans on Taiwan in 1582. They wanted to trade mostly with Japan, but that didn't work out. Their ship was blown onto rocks and they spent two months stuck there. The survivors weren't treated like some later people would have been.
