In verses 31 a d 32, jesus declares that blasphemy against the holy spirit will not be forgiven. And this is contrasted with speaking against the son of man. The pharisees rejection of christ and more particularly, their accusation that he is acting by the power of satan himself, is a manifestation of the state of their hearts.
