Just because something is at a red shift of say eight, doesn't mean it's actually moving towards a galaxy close to it. And so you have to take that into account as well. A lot of theoretical astrophysicists and observation lists are looking at ways to model this, and it's possible. It's really, really hard. But part of this, like what you mentioned about the temperature of the gas, yeah, that's going to make the line wire, but it also might tell us something about the temperatures of the gas.
