Greece in the Early Iron Age
Greece was a remote, still illiterate society at the close of the 9th century BC. The seeds of Phoenicia's Mediterranean-wide diaspora and even more profitable commercial future had already been sown by 900 BC. Decent cities dotted the landscape, including Athens, Sparta, Argos and Corinth. Fine Greek pottery was becoming ubiquitous as a craft product across the Mediterranean; demand for Greek wine and olive oil was rising.
