If your character just gets what they want without even having to try, there are going to be no stakes in your scrip. We need our character to take action so that we can raise the stakes. So number one, do you know what they want? Number two, are they taking active steps to get it? Number three, make it hard. A would be exactly the same thing if jake picked up a briefcase with three trillion dollars in it, as it would with the staple remover.
