The Doomerism of AI

I think the discourse has gone completely off the rails, I think. But on the other hand, I have hope. One thing about that hype machine around AI is that it uses doom as a promotional mechanism. So if it does something, I want to see what I can use it to do. That's my only way of staying sane. Because there's just so much hype and nonsense.
