Trump Wanted to Keep These Documents Because He Thought He Had Some Ownership Over Them
I think that Trump wanted to keep these documents because he thought he had some sort of ownership over them. And so he thought that he could get away with this and have people lie for him. He definitely was acting more like a mob boss than anything dictating to his staff and his lawyers to try to cover this up. I don't really see how Republicans can defend that because this is criminal behavior if proven.
