I would take copies of those books to the picket line and balance them on top of my sign, and read, because I didn't want to stop reading. And these were pickets for military funerals, pickets against gay people. In general, it was like the local protests in Topeka, Kansas. The protest targets were invariably LGBT people, but also Christians who we believed were not following the word of God.
