The Life of a Lesbian in Ireland
Patricia fell in love again with a woman named Jane. They met at work and Patricia would tell friends that she didn't know she was interested in women until she met Jane. She would joke that Jane turned her gay. Being gay in Ireland in the 80s is not easy. Sexual activities between two men, even in the privacy of their own home, minding their own business to consenting adult men were illegal. Lesbian sex wasn't illegal because it wasn't even recognized under Irish law.
