I love the way that Chris Croes in a very deliciously cheeky way is takes a disingenuous fictionalization. I think it shows the ways that auto theory as a term that's kind of trending right now is in a lot of ways really just crystallizing and embracing this tendency which arguably runs through the work of maybe all writers. Everything that's you know sort of like anything vaguely memoir-y by millennial white girls is now called auto-fiction or auto theory or something. The books don't often really live up to that but the books that actually sustain larger claims about them are rare, he says.
