After the Second World War a lot of people came back from overseas didn't know what to do. The master of restaurant supplies store opened that was really about selling equipment for a pizzeria specifically. So they would sell you the equipment and then teach you how to use it. You do the training. This became a new business that you could start which is why so many businesses opened so many slice shops opened in the 50s.
