The Effect of Language on Sales
The same fact could have a markedly different effect dependent on the language that this used. A 1974 study by Loftus and Palmer asked people to estimate speed of two cars in miles per hour. The group who heard the words smashed, when they estimate the speed, they think it's 40 miles point eight per hour. And the group that heard the verb contacted, they Think it's 31.8 miles per Hour. So even though everyone is seeing exactly the same footage, there is a variance of 27% in terms of their speed estimate.
