China and Nancy Pelosi's Visit to Taiwan
The US has this security pact with Taiwan to supply the island with sufficient hardware and technology to deter any mainland invasion. The US has always said Taiwan and China, if they want to unify, it should be unify peacefully. So when Nancy Pelosi in August decided she was going to visit Taiwan,. She was the highest ranking US politician to come to Taiwan. And then the next day, China staged this massive military exercise around the island. Beijing launched the drills in response to a visit by Nancy Pelosi.
