Is the Notion of Tenure a Threat to Academics?
The notion of tenure is supposed to cultivate risk taking among scholars. It enables the production of a certain set of ideas that are really valuable in the contex university. I am, you know, a bit mystified, though, about why the endangered species that gets tenure don't use their position to speak out once they've achieved that degree of job security. And i'm not sure why that is, to be honest. But i i see that still, there are many pressures upon tender professors to yet have stayed within the box.
