The Importance of Deeper Learning in the Middle Years

Many teachers don't have the tools to support them in making that change. It's an approach to teaching that suggests slowing down and spending more time on a topic rather than getting through the topic as quickly as possible so that the material is all covered. So I think there are a lot of ways in which we have set up the assessment system, the accountability system, the teacher accountability as well as the student accountability system to counter the opportunities for deeper learning.
