Aristotle says any mimetic art form can be defined by identifying these three things, or at least genres of poetry. The medium of tragedy is language in spoken meter and in lyric song. And the choruses of Greek tragedies use lirak sang in lyric poetry. So far so good but then we run into a passage that has caused an enormous amount of controversy.
