How to Get to Know an Englishman in a Pub
More than three quarters of the adult population go to pubs and over a third are regulars. A pub generally speaking is self service at the bar, so don't wait for somebody to sit you down. Don't expect anyone to be asking if they can take your coat for you. If they do, they are more likely going to do a runner with it. To do a runner is to steal something and then run away to leave the area very quickly.
