The Five System Structure of the VSM
V s m describes systems as adhering to a five system structure. Bear modelled this after the contemporary understanding of the nervous system, or at least his understanding of the human nervous system. In the structure, we have system one, which is where the actual ork is done. We start with system four, outside and future self reference simulation planning. At this level, were actually getting to management decisions. Then we finally have system five, which is usually just labelled as policy in some diagrams.
