This book is an attempt to try to give a general theory of the religious, from a Laconian point of view. It's centered on this very odd notion of what in German is called Dost-Ding,. The thing, the unknown thing in the other. And Mona Lisa is a perfect illustration of it, not least because Lacon thinks art is definable and sublimation or that marvelous feeling of wonder at the splendor of the art object.
