What Is a Particle Accelerator?
A particle accelerator is a machine that speeds up with using giant magnets. The Large Hadron Collider, built in 2008, is 27 kilometers long and the world's most powerful accelerator. There are two high energy beams, particle beams, that are traveling at close to the speed of light before they finally hit one another.
