Our memories are moris. And this habit of writing things down, it kind of multiplies our working memories to some degree. I encourage people to draw as well as take notes in a field notebook because drawing can so often instantly reveal what we know and what we don't know. It's really about representing in visual terms what you know and what you don't knows.

The problem, according to neuroscientists, may be that we have reached our neurobiological limits. Our brains simply can’t work any harder. Luckily, science writer Annie Murphy Paul has a solution.
