The Rooney Rule and the NFL's Diversity Plan

Back in 2002, academics and activists called a press conference. They were trying to bring attention to the fact that the NFL was basically shutting out black candidates from coaching jobs. Research found that on the rare occasions that black coaches were hired in the NFL, their teams won more games than white coaches did. But also found that you were just as likely to be fired if you were black coach with a winning record as a white coach with a losing record.
