Is There a Place for Psychedelics?

When we started recruiting volunteers for the long-term meditation study we approached a whole number of meditation teachers and at least 50% said no that's against our religion. I'm with you completely which makes me wonder how much communication is there between the contemplative traditions and the research that's now going on on psychedelics. It's not looked at like you're doing some recreational drug to get away from your troubles it's looked at as a very wholesome way of deepening your experience of reality if it's done with the proper sat and satting it serves awakening.
