The Science of Thermodynamics
The science of thermodynamics we're talking about here is the same science that accounts for why we're able to determine the temperature from a thermometer. So so your planet basically has this energy balance. The sun's energy comes in this infrared energy goes out. But greenhouse gases get in the way right literally they get in theway. They absorb energy kind of by coincidence at the same frequency that the earth is giving it off right. And when it gets absorbed in the atmosphere it then re-reitiates in both directions and so it's like you've put an extra blanket on right. It's hard for that energy to get out.
