The Role of Play in Conflict
When you're in a trigger, we'll call it in a partnership, you're in an emotional trigger. What happens is your body's reacting to that emotional trigger the same way as if a tiger would come out and attack you. Your body produces fighter flight and fear because it feels as though it's life, it's survival is being threatened. So what happens in body language when you introduce play, your deactivating fighter flight,. You're relaxing your five senses, you're relaxing your visual cortex and you're opening up more possibility. It activates the part of your brain which can actually rewire itself really quickly for new patterns.
