The Importance of Indirect Revelation
For Van Til, this approach raises significant concerns. From our perspective, God's revelation is known only indirectly. Since it is an event that occurs in God's history, and not ours, we cannot access it directly. Only here in Scripture and in the preaching of the church can we gain indirect knowledge of God. But Barth denies that the Scripture is itself directly, the inspired, inerrant, and infallible revelation of God.
