What Was It Like Growing Up in the Watchtower?
Clay: My grandmother actually was the first one that converted to become Jehovah's Witness. And then of course my mom was kind of raised in it. I would say that as a child, you don't really start to realize that anything is different about your childhood until you get to school. From that day on, I was excluded from like birthday celebrations and any kind of holiday celebration or decoration salute in the flag.
