Charlotte had been thinking about how the improved exoskeletons were getting close to making her look and walk almost like everyone else. She felt torn that such an important part of her identity was gradually becoming harder and harder for people to see. Charlotte grabbed her laptop and careened up the steps as quickly as her articulated brace. The screen showed a spare dime page for a woman suffering from an undiagnosed disease in Boston. It was a candid shot, shadows falling harshly over the smiling face but the tingle of recognition was unmistakable. The woman was a clone, an unknown clone who was not on Rachel's lead-a-list.
