When he was 23, John Defterios opened a health food store in New York. He says his parents were unhappy with him and wanted him to go back to school. His girlfriend Renee got excited about the idea of opening her own store. "I make a joke about it now that an entrepreneur is a little bit like a pan-handler," defterios says.
