Dr. Golden says she struggles with the insurance companies that we're using the BMI criteria to keep patients on their medication. Even if it doesn't seem to be helping them glycemicly, which they always do, but if they didn't, the insurance company wouldn't say, oh, it didn't work, stop it. "This stuff boggles my mind," Dr. Golden said of her frustration at seeing people who have advanced stage of obesity and are not getting enough treatment.
