The second brain is a system for countering novelty bias. It's like the antidote to our tendency to rely too much on what we've just seen or experienced in the past. When working with notes, i'm just as likely to use a note from five years ago as one from this year. I'm just aslikely to use an idea from six months ago than one from this month.

In the modern age, people are bombarded with more information, and are more personally responsible for managing that information, than ever before.
