The Impartiality of the Scottish Civil Service
There's still like real ongoing confusion about that concept that impartial is an institution partial to serving the government of the day. And it's actually played out a bit this week I saw Alistair Jack criticizing the Scottish Civil Service because they are supporting the SMP in their bid for independence and you know Scottish civil service responses well yes of course we are that's our job. The same ministers and Westminster would say these civil servants they're just not sufficiently behind our program Yeah, yeah,. which does point slightly to the sort of wouldn't want to accuse anyone individually of bad faith arguments.
