There are also comparing contrast exercises where you give the participant some ideas that they're going to compare and contrast for you so that you can hear more detail about how they think about those different things. And actually being in person. There are times when you have a good reason to do an interview in person rather than remotely over the computer. One of those times is when the context of the usage of your software or your product is highly contextual.
