The Importance of Status
We are naturally overconfident of our own abilities. We seek out status to feel more valued, so we seek other people who share that belief. Capitalists feel the need to be valued by their peers, and communists feel the need for value from others. The preoccupation with status stretches across the animal kingdom - even crickets have a love for status too.
