How to Decide When to Work for Free

Sally Kohn: I like to think about circles in a Venn diagram that maybe your career or ideal client has qualities of industry or type of work or who they are. And you might as well include your center of gravity. This thing that is even deeper just about what drives you and what upsets you and how that can play a role. Another quick exercise is look back at major milestones or decisions that you have made in the past five years or even a year and ask yourself if there was one reason why that you made those decisions. It's surprising what you find and it's been another way to do it.
