Lung Protective Ventilation for a RDS Patient?
Lung protective ventilation, you might have also heard the term low title volume ventilation. We consider protective lung title volumes to be somewhere in the realm of six, two eight ccs per kilogram of ideal body weight. I would start off with six c cs per kilogram. Now, because we're delivering a low title volume a, we're decreasing the minute ventilation. So when i'm thinking about setting the respiratory rate on the en, i realize that i may need to increase the respiratory rate to compensate for that low title volume. It's probably less harmful than it would be to over distend the alviola with larger title volumes.
