The Importance of a Payout Ratio

The payout ratio is simply how much a stock or a company is paying out from their earnings back to shareholders as a dividend. A higher one isn't necessarily bad, but you don't want a payout ratio that's above a one. Dividends are our best friend. As I've said before, it's the friend that keeps on giving.
