The Importance of a Mental Model
A lot of people run organizations on a green, yellow, red dashboard. If everything's green, you think everything is okay, but it doesn't actually tell you how people are feeling. Email's another example: You might have 32 emails in your inbox; not bad at all. It doesn't tell you what those emails are actually about or how much work they are. We're reducing things to deal with them in our head.
